Memories

18" x 22"

When you return to your ancestral home after decades of absence, does it all seem rather smaller than you recall? When you stand by the grave of a loved one long passed, can you recollect the facial features, the voice that you once loved so dear? Do you remember where you were when the American president was assassinated? When the Challenger went down? When the planes collided with the twin towers? Can you recreate the feeling the moment your body first realized its balance on a two-wheeled bicycle? Was there a moment when you first looked into your newborn son's eyes and you knew he was yours forever? And the elderly lady who cannot recall the face of her husband when he visits, but who can recollect the events of her wedding day to the last minute detail….

Memories… how poignant and how sad.
